Registering a Charitable Organization

If your charitable organization expects to raise more than $25,000 a year, or uses the services of a fund-raising business, the Charitable Fund Raising Act requires that it must be registered with the Alberta Government.

Charitable organizations must renew their registration every year.

To apply to register your charitable organization the first time, you must provide:

• A complete Application for Charitable Organizations
• Copies of the solicitation materials and telemarketing scripts to be used for fundraising

To renew your organization's charitable organization registration, you will need:

• An Application for Charitable Organizations

Alberta Consumer Services will process your application and the certificate of Registration will be mailed to your organization.
